Print a barcode badge for every staff member — all at once or just one at a time — and let them clock in or out at the TimeClock Kiosk with a scan instead of typing their name.
New to TimeClock itself? Start there first →
Every staff member already has a unique staff number, assigned automatically the moment they're added. Staff Badges puts that number on a printable card, and turns the TimeClock Kiosk into a scan-only screen — no typing, by camera or by a physical scanner. By default, a successful scan finds the staff member and shows a confirm screen — one tap finishes Clock In or Clock Out, the same as picking a name from search would. An unrecognized badge just returns to the ready screen with a quiet message — nothing logged, nothing to undo.
Click the Students / TimeClock toggle next to your email (Manager-only).
On the Admin tab, find the Staff Badges card and turn on Badge only mode.
Choose whichever matches your setup (details below) and click Save. This applies instantly, center-wide — no need to touch any device.
Staff tap a button, then hold their badge up to the device's camera — no extra hardware needed. SwiftCheck automatically uses the front-facing camera, since a kiosk usually faces the person using it.
No button — the kiosk shows a plain "Scan your badge" card, and any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner does the rest. A scanner works like a keyboard, typing the scanned number straight into the page.
Both read the exact same barcode, so a staff member's card works with either — switch between the two any time without reprinting anything.
Find the Staff ID Cards card, right below Staff Badges on the same Admin tab. It prints in two ways — everyone at once, or just the people who actually need a card right now.
Click Bulk Print. Every active staff member with an assigned number is included automatically — check Include inactive staff if you want former employees' cards too. Pick a label format and print. This is the fastest way to badge a whole team the first time you turn Staff Badges on.
Click Print instead to open a filterable checklist of your staff. Check just the people you need — a new hire, someone whose card was lost or damaged, whoever joined this pay period — pick a label format, and only those cards print. Nobody else's existing badge is touched.
Every card carries the same thing no matter which format or printing method you use: the staff member's name and their number as a Code128 barcode. Staff numbers start at #50000 and count up — a completely separate range from student numbers, so the two can never be mixed up.
No — Camera mode needs nothing beyond the device you're already using as the kiosk. A USB or Bluetooth scanner is only needed for Barcode scanner mode, and any model that types like a keyboard works with zero configuration.
No — every staff member gets one automatically the moment they're added, the same way student numbers work.
No — any active staff member on your Roster can badge in at the kiosk, regardless of those two separate permissions. Kiosk clock-ins, badge or typed, are witnessed in person and go straight into the record, with no approval step.
Yes, any time — flip it off and the kiosk goes back to normal name/number search. Nothing about staff numbers or history changes either way.
Nothing to deactivate or reissue — their staff number never changes. Click Print on Staff ID Cards, check just that one person, and print a fresh card without touching anyone else's.
No — use Print instead of Bulk Print and check only the new hire. Bulk Print is there for badging everyone at once (like your first day using Staff Badges); Print is for one-off additions and replacements after that.
Staff Badges is included at no extra cost with TimeClock.
